Cookies
Current as of 23 September 2026. The French version is the one that prevails.
No advertising cookies, no third-party trackers. What the site stores is there to make it work. That is why no banner asks for your consent.
1. What stays in your browser
| Name | What it is for | How long |
|---|---|---|
| retrace:auth:… | Keeping you signed in | Until you sign out |
| retrace:state:v4, retrace:locale | Your language, your country | Until you clear them |
| retrace:flow:v1, retrace:auth:next, retrace:auth:error | What you are typing, getting back to the right screen after sign-in | Until the tab is closed |
| retrace:draft:…, retrace:image:… | A record started without an account, and its photos | Until the record joins your account, or you clear them |
| retrace:tasks:… | A task list you hid | Until you clear it |
These are entries in your browser's local storage, not cookies. They stay on your device. No third party reads them.
2. When you pay
Payment goes through Stripe. On the payment screen, and only there, Stripe sets two cookies against fraud: __stripe_mid (1 year) and __stripe_sid (30 minutes). Payment does not go through without them. Their use is described in Stripe's privacy policy.
3. Audience measurement
Umami, installed on our own server, counts page views. Nothing is stored on your device, nothing goes to a third party, the figures are aggregated.
We also note which screens are opened and which buttons are pressed, in order, to see where the service gets in the way. This trail is tied neither to your account nor to your bike. It never contains what you type. It is deleted after 90 days.
4. Why there is no banner
French law requires your consent before any tracker, unless it is needed for the service you asked for, or it serves anonymous audience measurement (article 82 of the loi Informatique et Libertés). Everything described here falls into one of those two cases.
If we ever add a tracker that does not, it will only be set with your consent, and this page will be updated.
5. Clearing everything
Sign out, then clear the site's data in your browser settings. Questions: contact@retrace.bike. The rest of your data: privacy policy.
